  • Extra virgin olive oil or regular vegetable oil
  • Ground black pepper
  • Garlic powder (optional)
  • Dried oregano leaves (optional)
  • Lemon juice (optional)

Cooking process

Step 1: Prepare the asparagus

Now, first of all, prepare the asparagus by cutting the ends of them.

How do you cook raw asparagus?

You will see a hard woody part. That is not fryable. Use a knife to cut the slice out. Or you can utilize your hand instead. Hold the asparagus from the middle with two hands and bend it. It will break the woody part easily.

What next?

Now wash them very well with water and dry them using a soft kitchen tissue.

Wait, wait, wait...

Don't through the woody parts you have cut just now. You can use them later when making cream or soup. That's the secret sauce of extra flavor to the dish. Keep them.

Step 2: Seasoning

Get all your favorite seasonings.

First, add a fair amount of extra virgin olive oil. Not too much, not too less. Remember, we are not deep frying the asparagus. We are using an air fryer. Take the amount needed to coat them.

No olive oil at home?

No worry, you can use regular vegetable oil easily. Use your hands or a silicone kitchen brush will be better to brush the asparagus well.

Now, add salt or kosher salt and freshly ground pepper.

If you like the flavor of garlic, add some garlic powder. You can add some oregano leaves as well. Just use your favorite seasonings. It's totally up to you. I love the fantastic taste of garlic and oregano, so I add this to my herbs.

Wanna know a secret?

Squeeze some fresh lemon juice and see the magic.

Now mix or toss all the ingredients together very well. The real taste depends on how well you mix the seasoning. So, it's better to take at least nearly one minute to toss the asparagus and the seasoning.

Now, you are ready to fry the beautifully seasoned asparagus in the air fryer.

Step 3: air frying asparagus

Before laying the asparagus, it is better to preheat your air fryer at 400 degrees for 1 to 2 minutes. Now, you can pour the asparagus into the basket in two ways.

  • Spray or oil brush the basket with a silicon kitchen brush. Put the seasoned asparagus evenly in a single layer. There are different sizes of an air fryer. In a small one, you can pour 8 to 10 asparagus spears. In a larger one, 16 to 20 spears can be cooked at a time.
  • Another way is to use foil paper. If you want to cook all the spears at a time, first put an aluminum foil paper at the bottom of the basket. Now, pour all the asparagus in it. It's time to put them in the air fryer. Wait for 6 to 7 minutes until your dish is cooked well.
  • When the time is up, get the basket out. Serve them in a dish. Look at the beautifully nice and brown texture.
  • Do you get the smell of the smokey and well-seasoned roasted flavor?
  • It's mouthwatering.
  • Wait, try with a little more lemon juice if you like a more acidic taste and flavor. Or, skip it, your choice, of course.

Remember, I have told you to choose tender spears?

If the spears were uneven in size and not younger, you wouldn't feel this amazingly delicious taste, one would be overcooked, and another would not be cooked at all.
